FEEDFORWARD & FEEDBACK

The evolution of the feedback

While the feedback process focuses on the past and looks to identify opportunities for improvement,  feedforward focuses on looking to the future and build the best strategy to achieve goals successfully. We believe feedback and feedforward are complementary, and if used together, they will increase the performance of employees, teams, and managers.

The primary objective of the course is to strengthen awareness of the actions in the present, which is when the future is built. Feedforward and feedback are essential tools to increase management's performance and encourage professional development.​

Did you know?

According to Marshall Goldsmith, one of the five most respected executive coaches in the United States, some of the numerous reasons to demonstrate the importance of practicing feedforward are:
  • We can change the future, but it is impossible to change the past.
  • The feedforward helps to visualize and focus on a positive future, not on an unsuccessful past.
  • The feedforward is positive because it focuses on solutions. It is more productive to help people being "right" than proving they were "wrong."
  • While feedback requires comprehension about people's background and behaviors, feedforward can come from anyone with the right skills to perform a task. The main feedforward requirement is a good idea.

We customize programs and workshops and create private classes to meet the needs of organizations, companies and institutions.

Program highlights

This program approaches three archetypes:
  • Thinking, feeling and willing.
  • Past, present and future. We cannot deny the existence of the past, but we can choose how we will build our future.
  • Full attention to the present moment. Focusing on the past or on the future is not enough. The program includes the practice of mindfulness; future is built in the present.

Program outline

  • Full attention and existence.
  • Feedback practice (through planned conversations).
  • Feedforward practice (through structured dialogues).
  • Roles and responsibilities of those who give and those who receive feedback and feedforward.
  • Positive conditions for the proper practice of feedforward (time, environment, and tools).
  • Cultural barriers and opportunities to practice feedforward.
  • Program lenght: 12 hours
